I am interested in developing multi disciplinary in situ Simulation integrating the students, medics and the wider healthcare workforce

  • Dr Mohan Ranganathan

    CONSULTANT ANAETHETIST

I have been been working as a Consultant in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care for more than 15 years in the NHS. Education is one of my main interests - I teach medical students, I am an ALS instructor and also an examiner for the European Diploma in Intensive Care.

I have been involved in teaching simulation for medical students for the past 5 years

  • Sara Williams

    SIMULATION LEAD

I have been a qualified nurse for over 30 years, predominantly working in Cardio-thoracic/General AICU and the Emergency Department. I work as a Senior Resuscitation Officer at St George’s Hospital in London since 2015 to date. I also work as a Critical Care Outreach Sister at Warwick Hospital.

I am a Course Director and Instructor on GIC, ALS, APLS and EPALS courses and teach these courses nationally.  I recently joined the Simulation Team here at SWFT and whilst I love my clinical role, I also have a passion for teaching and supporting staff in their development and confidence in caring for patients.

  • Dr Charu Palta

    SENIOR PAEDIATRIC CEF

I'm involved in developing and facilitating Simulation in Paediatrics for Medical students, interdisciplinary Sim with the Paediatric ward team and multidisciplinary learning scenarios with the Paediatric, Anaesthetic and Emergency department teams.

I am currently excited about launching a new learning tool called SMILE. This incorporates Simulation based learning to cover major learning outcomes in child health for medical students in their clinical placement in Paediatrics. This is a project in medical education research in conjunction with Warwick university.

  • Sally Tilsley

    SIMULATION EDUCATOR

I have been teaching Medical Students for some time now which has included Clinical Skills teaching, teaching on AIM courses & I am also an examiner for OSCEs.

Within Simulation my role is to support Medical Students & FY1s with their sim sessions which are based on recognising the deteriorating patient using the A-E approach.

Within the sessions I play the role of the nurse who will help with taking observations & undertaking clinical skills appropriate to the scenario.

  • Sarah Bettles

    CLINICAL SKILLS & SIMULATION EDUCATOR

I started my NHS career as a CSW in outpatients, then worked at a brain injury unit before registering as a nurse and starting in Trauma and Orthopaedics before moving into Spinal Injuries.

I came to Sim after 9 years in A&E, and am passionate about delivering high standards of patient care.

  • Carol Powell

    SIMULATION & CLINICAL SKILLS FACILITATOR

My previous experience includes nursing, physiotherapy and occupational therapy both in the acute and community setting. It was based on this broad experience I was invited to join the Education team five years ago.

I have been in Simulation for two years and my role is to set up and close down sessions, manage the mannequin, role play as the scenarios require and open the debrief session. I also arrange sessions by working closely with teams both in the acute and community. We identify learning needs to build into sessions in order to meet necessary learning outcomes.

My focus and passion is Human Factors and how it impacts patient care.

  • Jess McPherson

My role is to operate the manikins such as SimMan, SimMom & SimBaby and our new audio visual sytem SIMStation UK in our simulation suites at Acorn House & Medical Education Centre.

I am also responsible for the planning of future simulation sessions, supporting postgraduate clinical skills courses and finding new ways we can continue to enhance our simulation spaces at Warwick.
